Victor tried to run. He made it three steps before two officers blocked his path. His face was a mask of furious disbelief. “This is a setup! This is illegal! That woman did something to him!” He pointed at me, his finger shaking.

Daniel climbed out of the coffin with surprising grace for a man who had been pretending to be dead.

He straightened his suit jacket and brushed a piece of cotton from his sleeve. “The only thing illegal here, Uncle Victor, is the thirty-seven fraudulent accounts you and my mother opened using my signature. The police have the records. They have the insurance applications. And thanks to the microphones we placed in this chapel, they also have a very clear confession.”
